What's Cooking Wednesday: POPS
Did you ever realize that things on a stick just taste better? It's more festive, maybe even a little taboo to gnaw on something that's been stabbed with a sharp piece of wood. Ok, maybe it's just me, but I love 'pops,' so I thought we'd celebrate Father's Day a little early by making pops (also known as food on a stick).
On the agenda as possibilities:
- cake pops
- marshmallow pops
- oreo pops
- jolly rancher pops
- yogurt pops
- chocolate covered strawberry pops
- brownie pops
- sausage pops
- carrot pops
ok, those last 2 just make my job of scrounging up lunch a little easier....
What else could we put on a stick?
How are you celebrating your POP this week?

Time to Read Tuesday: A Campout
Today, we are having a Reading Campout! There is this little 'meadow' right by our house. We are setting up tents, making a fake campfire, and will have some sort of camping snack out there with us... bring a tent, bring some chairs, bring whatever you want, but BRING SOMETHING TO READ! We will enjoy reading quietly and reading to each other from 4:30 until 6pm OR until I get too hot, my kids start fighting, or I get eaten alive by buggies. Seriously, come read with us! It'll be fun!

Movie Monday: Happy Feet
Happy Feet
(6/11/12)
Here are the specifics for movie night:
- Starts at 8:30 (yes, it's still a little light at 8:30, but we have to keep to our schedule)
- Anyone can come
- Bring chairs (or blankets... there is lawn space available)
- Bring drinks/snacks for your family (I will have a water cooler, but that's about it)
- Bug Spray, Bug Spray, Bug Spray!
I hope you'll join us- we had a good time last week! If you don't know where I live, message me and I'll send you the address!
Make Something Monday: I am...
Today for Make Something Monday, we will be adding an "I am" page to our art journals. I did this with my class last year and they absolutely LOVED it! They turned out beautifully and as I read them all, it was like looking into that kid's heart... they are soooo honest at this age. I can only hope my kids will be as open, so I will always have a little snapshot of what they were like as people, right NOW! We will be filling the 'I' with colored sharpie words and using watercolor paints over them.... Here's mine from Spring Break... (done a little differently)
There is also a good possibility we will find ourselves in Bryan tomorrow and while we're there, we may do a little geocaching....

Treasure Hunters
After some light housework, my adventure posse and I were ready to go! First stop: Chic-Fil-A- we got kids meals, which are pricy and usually NOT an option- the reason? THey come with camping guides, nature notebooks, etc and I thought that would be a fun thing to add to our adventure pack!
After filling our bellies, we dropped Lu off at a birthday party, then found some caches in the area- the first 2 ended in defeat, but we picked Lu up and went back to try some more in that area.
While on the phone with my brother, (he was on speaker, I was dutifully following my compass)
I FOUND ONE!!!!!!!

We took a 'gold' coin and left our globe/ compass ring. We didn't find anymore in that area, but not for lack of trying!
After dinner, we headed to a nearby park to hunt.. it was getting dark, but my big, strong husband was more than willing to climb into the brambles and FOUND ANOTHER ONE! We left a little rubber owl (we left our signature compass rings at home) and took this little charm.

What a super fun day! Next time, we will freeze water bottles the night before and pack snacks and maybe a ball for the ones who get a bit impatient when mom spends an hour climbing through bushes.
OOOOHHHHHH!
Here's the awesome part! We went to a store and got some things (trying not to give too much away) and we are planting our very own cache tomorrow!!!! I can't wait until it gets reviewed and approved and people can come find our treasure!
I. Am. So. Excited.
and I may be a bit of a dork!
Adventure day make up
So we were stuck at home most of yesterday due to a child and his topsy turvy stomach.... Today, since Dad has to work, we hope to make up for that! I'll keep ya posted!
