FUN FRIDAY: Fairy Friday
Imagination is the most important thing you can foster in a child. I know, being an only child for so long, I had many imaginary friends and played with my stuffed animals as though they were real...
As we looked at geocaching on Pinterest, we came across several fairy doors. They are essentially little doors attached to trees just at the base.. that's it-
So we decided to put a smile on some child's face and make one- I took popsicle sticks, paint, sticks from the yard and lots of hot glue and came up with the above picture. As soon as all the kids are up, we will make a few more, then go find cool trees to nail them to! Lucas renamed it Fairy Friday instead of Fun Friday, at least for today.
The little 2 are super excited and the big 2 are insulted by all of this- but I really don't care about them because they get to go to a Dynamo game this weekend, so they can nail fairy houses with a smile, knowing that their Fun Friday is really on Saturday... I'll let you know where our fairies set up shop so you can check them out!

Treasure Hunters
After some light housework, my adventure posse and I were ready to go! First stop: Chic-Fil-A- we got kids meals, which are pricy and usually NOT an option- the reason? THey come with camping guides, nature notebooks, etc and I thought that would be a fun thing to add to our adventure pack!
After filling our bellies, we dropped Lu off at a birthday party, then found some caches in the area- the first 2 ended in defeat, but we picked Lu up and went back to try some more in that area.
While on the phone with my brother, (he was on speaker, I was dutifully following my compass)
I FOUND ONE!!!!!!!

We took a 'gold' coin and left our globe/ compass ring. We didn't find anymore in that area, but not for lack of trying!
After dinner, we headed to a nearby park to hunt.. it was getting dark, but my big, strong husband was more than willing to climb into the brambles and FOUND ANOTHER ONE! We left a little rubber owl (we left our signature compass rings at home) and took this little charm.

What a super fun day! Next time, we will freeze water bottles the night before and pack snacks and maybe a ball for the ones who get a bit impatient when mom spends an hour climbing through bushes.
OOOOHHHHHH!
Here's the awesome part! We went to a store and got some things (trying not to give too much away) and we are planting our very own cache tomorrow!!!! I can't wait until it gets reviewed and approved and people can come find our treasure!
I. Am. So. Excited.
and I may be a bit of a dork!
Adventure day make up
So we were stuck at home most of yesterday due to a child and his topsy turvy stomach.... Today, since Dad has to work, we hope to make up for that! I'll keep ya posted!

Fabulously Fun Friday: Never Eat Sour Watermelon
Isn't that how you learned it? North, East, South, West..... I teach this every fall when we study Columbus, but I've found a NEW way!
This week's Fun Friday activity is a Geocaching Adventure- We will try to find 10 caches and if we find at least 5, a LARGE TASTY REWARD AWAITS!
Geocaching is defined as outdoor sporting activity in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device[2] and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", anywhere in the world.

We have registered with geocaching.com and our user name is StaggFamily. I am including the list of possible caches we will be looking for tomorrow-
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am not one to spend time researching something new- I am more of the 'sink or swim' type. We tried a few today with no luck, however, we were ill prepared. Tomorrow, we will be armed with adventure packs, picnic lunches, frozen water bottles, gloves & boots (to use when needed), and I am thinking of taking something unique as a prop for pics at each cache site.... not sure about that yet. Anything else? If we can conquer caching, we can then dive into creating our own caches with cool clues.... I think I am more excited about that than anything... but babysteps.... we did go to Dollar Tree and make these cute trinkets to leave in the cache boxes we find (*IF* we find any!)
